Responsible Party

I was born in Nebraska (in the middle of the U.S.A.) near the end of World War II. My grandparents came from Sweden, Scotland, and Germany. Ordinary people in ordinary times.

My earliest memory is of moonlight streaming through the bars of my crib in the corner room of this house on my grandmother's farm.

I developed my first roll of film using a Kodak Kodacraft tank before I was a teenager. As with everything in my life, I learned by trial-and-error; negatives turned brown and faded, so thereafter, I washed them. Eisenhower was president.
