I say anachronism: not since the forties has everyone worn hats, and I think then Dick Tracy had yet to wear his phone on his wrist.
The ankle tattoo, though, suggests irony...Mike
Mike, I think that these people themselves bespeak irony, and the tattoo announces their awareness. Plus, they remind me of just how very poorly tourists (especially Americans?) dress.
