When I took the picture in Prague, in 2011, I knew no more than what I saw in front of me. Much later I was able to look up Jan Palach on Wikipedia for the whole story (and that wonderful funeral picture, which I also reproduced).
Amazing what the computer and the Internet have added to our understanding.
An intense photograph, Tyler. I wonder quite often what makes us stop and capture such a scenery, cognitively unaware of the load of the situation that is referenced. And I have no answer.
