This reminds me of the poem by Shelley, about finding a long abandoned statue of a king of a long forgotten empire, named Ozymandias --
met a traveller from an antique land, Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand, Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown, And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
and later the poem says---
And on the pedestal, these words appear: My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings; Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Obviously this image - and this statue - are different. Not in the middle of a nameless desert. But for me at least looking it the photo....I wonder who he was.

Did I mention...it's a great image?
