Very fine, Tyler. Of course the symmetry works, and also the muted colors have their effect. But it's probably also a secret of very human dimensions, of a rich past indicated by the peeling colors that make it attractive.
Nota bene: I know what it means to live an a badly insulated house with moisture creeping up the walls. It's not pure nostalgia, romanticising an environment I am glad not having to inhabit...
