The image on top is what the camera saw; I only pointed the camera and chose when to push the button. Nothing more. Some call this "digital capture" or "straight" photography.

Not for me. It is more like the charcoal sketch the painter makes on the canvas before applying the oils. It is the background, before the expression is laid on.

Your description of your method is instructive and interesting.
The results are eloquent. The not-quite-decrepit (soon to be gone) fruit is heartbreaking.
