What a wonderful study in red gray and blue. There is so much to look at and discover inside the frame; pigeons on the cupola, the faded blue door, the struggling line of plants in the crack at the base of the timbers holding in the rocks, and of course the red steps. On first look my reaction was what in the world was he thinking with cropping off the ends of the eaves on the left side of the frame. Then I wondered what was being hidden from view along that side of the house, and the image began to make more sense; in spite of feeling unbalanced and tilted to the left.
